Kate has a particular love of the prepared piano, John Cage’s invention from the 1940’s, performing, recording and giving workshops on this unique instrument since her student days. She has created Keynote + with harpsichordist Jane Chapman, a unique ensemble combining early and modern keyboards with electronics and visual imagery.
